Sweet Fellowship

Boy, did I  have a crazy-go-nuts weekend.

This weekend was the Florida Youth Rally. Our theme was a "Go Ye Into All the World" and the Speaker (Mike Atwood) challenged the young people to get involved and be a missionary in their own environment. The biggest thing I took away from his message was the need to be committed where you are. I guess you could describe me as somewhat of a dreamer. I'm always planning and dreaming of the future -while living in the second (I like to think of it as multi-tasking). It was nice to be reminded of the importance of being committed in the ministries of your local gathering.

Due to the Youth Rally, I had some family members in my home. (Dad - Sister - Friend from my Church in Tampa). It was great to have both my guest rooms full of people.

Sunday afternoon we had another full house - complete with all my house guests finding a comfy place to take a nap. It's such an encouragement to have people in your home and comfortable enough to kick their shoes off and chill.

What did you do this weekend?

Sushi?

What-a-weekend-and-its-not-over-yet.

Let's start with Friday.

On Friday, we celebrated a huge accomplishment for a co-worker. Graduation.

To celebrate, I made a batch of cupcakes that look like Sushi.

Ingredients.
1) Store bought cake mix.
2) Frosting
3) Coconut Flakes
4) Gummy Bears

It was so much fun to make - and watch my co-workers enjoy. I'm kind of like an abuelita sometimes. I truly LOVE to watch people enjoy food or desserts that I've prepared. It makes me happy.

How was your weekend? Did you try anything new?

Good Morning, Blog Lovers!

So, last week at this time I was counting down the hours until I got to leave for the Magic Kingdom. This weekend, I'm counting down the hours until my family comes to visit! (I'm always counting down to something).

Since it's almost the weekend, I thought i'd share 10 things I absolutely love about the Magic Kingdom.

  • Take the speed train (Monorail) in the morning (Faster to the park).
  • Ride the Steamboat back in the evening (Slower to the car).
2. Awkward family photos

  • All over Disney - there are perfect places to take those embarrassing photos that you will love for the rest of your life.
3. The random indian on Mainstreet USA

  • side note - my Indian friend was gone! Main Street U.S.A. is under construction.
4. The Florida Mountains

  • Space Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railway
  • Splash Mountain
5. DoleWhips

  • Seriously, ... I could eat one of those right now.
6. Swiss Family Robinson Tree House

  • I love that movie.
7. Dumbo

  • So many happy memories!
8. Mickey Ears

  • The ones you wear
  • The ones you eat
  • The ones you take pictures of
  • The ones you find hidden all over Disney!
9. The Electrical Light Parade

  • Never gets old, never loses it's magic!
10. The Castle. ...

  • Seriously, my favorite thing to look at.
    • True story - last Saturday, I sat in the rain on the park bench eating my mickey ear icecream and staring at the castle.
      • Don't judge me - I love the castle. Besides, It was just named one of the top 100 Florida Buildings by American Institute of Architects.
Article Here.
Anyway - these are only a few of the magical things I love about the Magical Kingdom.

Do we have any in common?

Spaghetti & Meatballs.

Bonjour!

Every once and a while I get inspired to be creative. Happily, it was a co-workers birthday today! Therefore, we needed CUPCAKES! For my foodie-co-worker, I decided to make Spaghetti & Meat Ball cupcakes!  So, just for kicks and giggles, I thought that I would share how I made my spaghetti and meatball cupcakes.

The Inspiration.
 Inspiration!
Thank you google! I did a quick google search and ran across "April Fools Day Desserts". Obviously, it intrigued me. SO, here we go.
Mix the Cake Mix (Store bought)

Mix the "noodles"

Frost the cupcakes.

I spooned yellow frosting into a bag, cut a teeny-tiny hole in the corner and piped the noodles onto the "plate"

Warmed Strawberry Jam (Spaghetti Sauce)

Whoppers and White Chocolate  (Meatballs & Parm. Cheese)

Final Touch! Serve the cupcakes in lasagna dish.

Now, the details you really want to know.

How long did it take?

it took me only about 30 minutes to decorate all of the cupcakes.

Was it as easy as it looks?

It was super easy!

What are you waiting for? Go bake!!

Toodles,

Oh yeah,... A Risen Savior! :)

Have you ever sat back and observed Easter? Observed how people react to "Easter" ... This year in the days leading up to Easter, I found myself taking a backseat and observing how people plan for the day. To be honest, I find myself people watching more and more these days. Anyway, before Easter I really wanted to get a new dress / new shoes ...plan my outfit, plan my Easter lunch ... you know, the whole thing.

However, as Easter approached. I was reminded that Easter isn't about the new dress, new shoes, having a nice lunch or any of that. At Easter we should be remembering how Christ died, and ROSE AGAIN.
With a change of heart, I approached Easter refreshed and ready to remember what Christ did for ME.

I pray that you found yourself encouraged on Easter.

Tips for a Successful Disney Vacation.

Okay, it's no secret. I LOVE everything about Walt Disney (World, Movies, Music). I understand, it's all "magic" "fairytales" and ... well, okay let me just come out and say it. When I watch a Disney movie, or go to a park, or ... see a piece of Disney Art I am whisked away to a fairy land.  ...

I'm so blessed to have married a man who COMPLETELY understands this about me. My darling husband is just as bad (quite possibly worse) than me when it comes to the love of Disney.

So, let me get on with it.

I've decided to share some of my secrets of our exciting vacation.

 Take the "Kids" to Grandma's!
Tip 1: Take the dogs to your parents house.

Seriously.

Disney is no place for Rat Terriers!

Tip 2: Book a hotel online.

We booked our hotel on Priceline.com. It was GREAT! I picked the area I wanted (Downtown Disney) set my budget and booked it!

We ended up staying at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista. Truly, it was the most rested I've ever felt in an Orlando Hotel.

Tip 3: Take time to enjoy the hotel (especially if you booked a 4+ star hotel)
Tip 4: Take the time to do your hair, and pick out a cute outfit.

Remember.  You are about to invest a lot of $$ on your day at Walt Disney World. You will want to look cute!

Tip 5: Eat a filling breakfast. I recommend iHOP.

For the following reasons:
1) Inexpensive.
2) Unlimited Coffee Refills.
3) ... It's just where we always go. ...

Coffee. ...
Tip 6: If you are going to the Magic Kingdom, ... GET THERE EARLY!

You wouldn't want to miss Mickey open the gates would you?

(No. you wouldn't)
Mickey's Welcome Show!
Daily.
Tip 7:  Wave hello to Walt & Mickey.

Also ... If the Pigeon is there. ... Say hello to him too.
2012
BONUS TIP!

Every single family (complete with strollers, large mickey back packs & other bulky items) will be in this spot for about a full hour when the park opens.

My advice. AVOID IT!

Simply wave hello and walk STRAIGHT through the Castle to Fantasy Land (if you have small children).

If you come back to Walt at around lunch time, it will be perfect for your family photo.

All of the people who were waiting in line to take the perfect family photo are now in line to ride the Fantasy Land Rides (Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, Snow White etc...) You my friends, do NOT have to worry about them anymore because ... you already went on THOSE rides!

If you are a thrill seeker - hang a right and go to Tomorrow Land. You will want to check out Space Mountain.

Tip 8: Get the fast pass and ride the mountains twice.

Okay - Listen up. This is seriously the smartest thing you can do.

First, get a fast pass.
Second ... wait in line for the ride.

After you wait in line it will probably be about the time your fast pass is valid.
SO! Boom!
You get to ride the ride AGAIN!

Tip 9: DoleWhip.
These can ONLY be found in Adventure Land.

Yes, they are about 5.00 each. However, where else can you get Pinapple Icecream & Pineapple juice floats.

(if you're looking for Adventure Land, you'll want to take a right *LEFT* before you get to the castle).

DoleWhip's are seriously delicious.

You can pick one up on your way to the Swiss Family Robinson Tree house.

Tip 10: Take time for romance.

Find an excuse to hold your loves hand. <3
Okay, I have a LOT more pictures and tips.

Stay tuned.
