Triathlon. (Is that cheating? I mean, ... triathletes swim bike AND run...)
I have enjoyed reading Michele's posts over on http://michelelash.tumblr.com/ and I know you are going to enjoy getting to know her too!
What is your favorite race distance and why?
I love both short & long distances. They equally hurt but in different ways. I spent most of the year training for long distance which is fun to push yourself to places you didn't know you could go. Recently, during my off-season, I've been focused on shorter distances and getting faster. It's been fun to do a some short races and find those extra gears I didn't know I had.
How long have you been running?
What advice would you give to readers who have never run a race?
Don't focus on a specific finishing time. Your goal should be to finish.
What is your favorite race memory?
Pretty much the entire day of my first 70.3 from this past summer. One of the best points of the race was half way through the run. It was a two loop course. At the end of the first loop, you run half way down the finishers shoot before veering off to start the second loop. I remember being in the finishers shoot SO CLOSE to the finish. This is what I've worked for all of these months in training and it's almost here. I had to hold back the tears. Even though my knees were in a lot of pain because of my IT band and I had to walk most of the last portion, it felt so easy because I got a taste of the finish line and it was right there.
What are you most thankful for this Holiday Season?
So much. I'm thankful for my health and resources that allow me to do this crazy sport. I'm thankful that my husband and kids are there to support me in so many ways.
If it's in your head and your heart, your body will follow.
Favorite Holiday Movie?
Elf! (I adore that movie! - Erin)
